Can you believe the school year is already almost over?!?! May always brings beautiful weather, Mother’s Day, and fun end of the year projects. However, this can be a difficult month for so many of our students who live day to day without their mother in their lives. In this reflection prompt set, we discuss what is special about our mothers. I always make a large effort to include what is special about a grandmother or aunt if there are any students who are in my class who do not live with their mothers.
Since it is May, this means my students are preparing to exit my classroom in a few short weeks and head off into the summer. It is so important to me to discuss what it means to be polite this month so that my students continue to be polite to one another for the remainder of our school days together. We also discuss jealousy, because I know a lot of jealousy can come out at this time of year when other students start to discuss their summer plans with one another. This month is filled with so many wonderful discussion prompts. I can’t wait to hear what my students share!
